School Hours

The School opens at 7.00am and the School day begins at 8.25am with Assembly. Any student at school before 8.15am must be placed in the Before School program.

The School day ends at 3.30pm, and any student who has not been collected by his/her parent by 3.45pm will be placed in “After School Care”. Any student not collected by 6.00pm may be referred to the authorities under laws relating to abandonment.

Morning Drop Off

Pre-School students must be signed in by their parent with either the Before School program teacher or the student’s class teacher. At this time, the receiving teacher conducts a “wellness” check to determine whether the student is fit to attend school that day. Please note that the teacher is legally obligated to refuse a student s/he feels to be unfit for school, such as through illness or through being a possible threat to the health of other students by having an infection. The teacher is also legally obligated to inspect the general wellbeing of the student and to inquire after any cuts, bruises or scratches.

Afternoon Pick Up

Pre-School students must be signed out by a parent or by somebody previously authorized in writing by a parent with either the After School program teacher or their class teacher . At this time, the teacher conducts a “wellness” check to determine whether the parent, or designee, is fit to take the child that day. Please note that the teacher is legally obligated to refuse to allow a student to go with someone s/he feels to be unfit at that time, such as through inebriation or through a suggestion that that person might be a threat to the well-being of the student.

Lateness

Parents are asked to drop off their child(ren) by 8.15am as late arrivals are disruptive to the class and to other students. Much of the Pre-School program concerns establishing routines and many of these revolve around the first 15 minutes of the school day.

Assemblies

A Formal Assembly is held every second Monday, following the raising of the flag at 8.25am. Parents are invited to attend the Formal Assembly and to stay behind afterwards for coffee. A brief Assembly is held daily at 8.25am and students are normally in their classrooms at 8.30am. Parents are asked not to attend the daily Assembly.

Timetable

The School day is divided into two Sessions, Morning (8.30am – 11.30am) and Afternoon (12.30pm – 3.30pm), with Lunch between. The Lunch session consists of approximately 30 minutes in the Lunch room and thirty minutes of supervised play. The Morning session contains a Break and Snack, although Pre-School teachers are generally free to adapt the timetable to suit the needs of the class at that time. Naps

The Afternoon session begins with a nap which ends as the students wake up. The teacher will generally allow the student to sleep until s/he wakes naturally, and as students wake, they are given quiet activities until all members of the class are awake at which point they typically have a Break.

Meals

Students who are dropped off before 8.00am will be given breakfast. This is included in the Before School program charge. Click here for the Breakfast menu. Students are expected to bring lunch, and any student without lunch will be given a meal and parents will be charged. Dinner is not served as all students should be collected by 6.00pm.

Snacks

Students are given snacks in the middle of the Morning session, and again after they wake from their nap in the Afternoon session. Students in the After School program will also be given a snack. Click here for the Snack menu.

Parents will be charged at the rate of $5 per five-minute period after 6.00pm for any child not collected. Any child not collected by 7.00pm will be referred to the authorities.
